Lucy Mitchell Date, Artistic Director
holds
teacher certification through the Cecchetti Council of America and has taught
dance for 25 years. Her training also includes study with Christina Kammueller
Jacob Lascu and Rose Marie Floyd. Her background is in the Arts and Photography
were she had a successful studio in Pontiac. Director of Dance at Detroit
Country Day school for the past 7 years where she implemented an after school
dance program for grades PK-5. She is
currently a member of the Michigan Dance Council, Detroit Friends of the Joffrey
Ballet and the Cecchetti Council of America. We are in our 6th year at the DABH
and her goal is to provide quality dance instruction in a warm and
personal environment..
Lisa LaMarre, Competition Jazz
is dedicated to strong dance technique,
style diversity, and self inspired movement. She graduated with a BA in dance
from Western Michigan University, where she studied ballet, jazz, and modern
dance. In 2005, Lisa was chosen as the WMU Department of Dance Presidential
Scholar. She also received two WMU Dalton Exceptional Dance Major Scholarships
and was awarded an Undergraduate Entrepreneurial Program Grant to study dance in
New York City. She has worked with BalletMet, participated in WMU’s Great
Works Dance Project.
Yvette Johnson, Competition Tap
has been dancing since the age of 3. She
has been a teacher for 14 years. Ms. Yvette has Regional and National Talent
Competition winners, ranging from Myrtle Beach, California, New York, and Las
Vegas. Before taking time out of the Dance world Ms. Yvette produced 1st place
winners in National Competition in Las Vegas, NV. Ms. Yvette will be teaching
Tap, Jazz, and Lyrical, and she is extremely excited to begin the year with the
staff o f Dance Academy of Bloomfield Hills.
Crystal Payter
is currently in her third year as a dance
major at Oakland University. For the past year and a half she has been a member
of Oakland Dance Theatre. This past summer she spent a month in New York City
studying with the Paul Taylor Dance Company. She has been dancing since the
beginning of high school and has no plans to ever stop.
Lisa Johnson
dance has been part of Lisa’s life for
as long as she can remember. Lisa began her early training with Mask School of
Dance, Jean Nuccilli’s School of Ballet, Toni’s School of the Arts and Wendy’s
Dance Arts; where later she was crowned Miss Wendy’s Dance Arts. Ms. Johnson
began formal training with Carol Morisseau of Detroit City Dance Company.
Following her training, Lisa became a company member and for the next few
summers trained with the Harbinger Dance Company, Alvin Ailey, and New York City
Ballet. Lisa has performed with Wayne State University Dance Department, Oakland
University Dance Department (Laurie Eisenhower), and Other Things and Company.
Mallory Stehle, Musical Theatre
is currently pursuing her B.F.A. in Musical Theatre at Oakland University. She
has performed in a variety of musicals throughout the past 12 years, including 42nd
Street, Cinderella, Seussical, Brenda Bly! Teen Detective, Follies, Brigadoon, and
Songs for a New World. She is extremely excited to be able to have the
opportunity to teach the art and craft of Musical Theatre to enthusiastic kids.
