Lucy Mitchell Date, Artistic Director
holds teacher certification through the Cecchetti Council of America and has taught dance for 26 years. Her training also includes study with Christina Kammueller Jacob Lascu and Rose Marie Floyd. Her background is in the Arts and Photography were she had a successful studio in Pontiac. Director of Dance at Detroit Country Day school for the past 10 years where she implemented an after school dance program for grades PK-5.  She is currently a member of the Michigan Dance Council, Detroit Friends of the Joffrey Ballet and the Cecchetti Council of America. We are in our 8th year at the DABH and her goal is to provide quality dance instruction in a warm  and personal environment..

Lisa LaMarre
is dedicated to strong dance technique, style diversity, and self inspired movement. She graduated with a BA in dance from Western Michigan University, where she studied ballet, jazz, and modern dance. In 2005, Lisa was chosen as the WMU Department of Dance Presidential Scholar. She also received two WMU Dalton Exceptional Dance Major Scholarships and was awarded an Undergraduate Entrepreneurial Program Grant to study dance in New York City. She has worked with BalletMet, participated in WMU’s Great Works Dance Project.

Yvette Johnson
has been dancing since the age of 3. She has been a teacher for 15 years. Ms. Yvette has Regional and National Talent Competition winners, ranging from Myrtle Beach, California, New York, and Las Vegas. Before taking time out of the Dance world Ms. Yvette produced 1st place winners in National Competition in Las Vegas, NV. Ms. Yvette will be teaching Tap, Jazz, and Lyrical, and she is extremely excited to begin the year with the staff of Dance Academy of Bloomfield Hills.

Lisa Johnson
dance has been part of Lisa’s life for as long as she can remember. Lisa began her early training with Mask School of Dance, Jean Nuccilli’s School of Ballet, Toni’s School of the Arts and Wendy’s Dance Arts; where later she was crowned Miss Wendy’s Dance Arts. Ms. Johnson began formal training with Carol Morisseau of Detroit City Dance Company. Following her training, Lisa became a company member and for the next few summers trained with the Harbinger Dance Company, Alvin Ailey, and New York City Ballet. Lisa has performed with Wayne State University Dance Department, Oakland University Dance Department (Laurie Eisenhower), and Other Things and Company.
 
Trish Shandor, Musical Theatre (Bio to come)
has a BMA in vocal performance from Oakland University with a strong emphasis in both jazz and classical voice. She has spent 5 years at the Michigan Opera Theatre as the Special projects Coordindator. Trish was the 2008 & 2009 Detroit Music Award Winner in Classical Voice. She can be seen performing in the Metropolitan area.

Nia Silao 
is a graduate from Wayne State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Dance. She is certified through Dance Masters of America specializing in ballet,tap,jazz and modern. Nia has also worked for the Department of Dance at Detroit's Music Hall and has performed around the Midwest and Canada. Her choreography has won 1st place overall at competitions and is excited to share her knowledge with her students. She is currently a professional dancer with the Detroit Dance Collective. We are pleased to have her join the DABH staff.

Shari Hecox, Studio Manager
has been with the Dance Academy since the very beginning. A graduate of the Roeper School and Oakland University, she has had a passion for the performing arts since 4th grade. Her upbeat personality and attention to detail makes her a welcome presence behind the front desk.
